or survivorship, the act of surviving, is the propensity of something to continue existing, particularly when this is done despite conditions that might kill or destroy it. The concept can be applied to humans and other living things (or, hypothetically, any sentient being), to physical object, and to abstract things such as beliefs or ideas.
Living things generally have a self-preservation instinct to survive, while objects intended for use in harsh conditions are designed for survivability. Meaning[ edit ]
the word, "survival", derives from the late latin supervivere , literally meaning "to outlive". Most commonly, "the term 'survival' means physical survival — that is, a struggle to avoid physical extermination".

When it comes to bang for your buck, few survival knives offer as much as the schrade schf52 frontier ($55). This 13-inch monster has helped me dress firewood, hack the limbs from downed trees, and generally demolish a myriad of backyard chores. Much of the credit here goes to the simplicity of schrade’s design. The entire knife is composed of a single piece of 1095 high-carbon steel, with 7 inches dedicated to the blade. The thermoplastic elastomer handle is beautifully textured, with a hooked pommel and finger guard keeping your hand in place. There’s also a nice patch of thumb jimping up top, and a generous forward finger choil.
Fire is a topic i find very interesting. So many of us grew up using lighter fluid, newspaper, matches, or a zippo to light camp fires. I did not actually build a primitive fire until i was 34 years old. I was in boy scouts and actually became an eagle scout, but never was i asked to demonstrate this skill. I saw several scout leaders do it, but never got to try for myself. I feel that survival shows make fire-starting look much easier than it actually is. Through the magic of editing, three hours of working a bow drill looks like it takes three minutes.
Survival mode is a game mode in plants vs. Zombies where the player is tasked to survive continuous waves of zombies. It is also present in plants vs. Zombies: endless edition and plants vs. Zombies: great wall edition. It is unlocked when adventure mode is completed for the first time (after beating dr. Zomboss in the final level and earning the silver sunflower trophy ). Unlike the levels in adventure mode , the player is allowed to choose different seed packets to defend against the zombies every one or two flags (for normal and hard/endless versions respectively) to continue building up their defenses.
